Interesting article on Salon about Melancholia. Click through the pic to read it. I gobbled it up…
(I actually really liked this movie…which I watched two nights apart - the first section one night, the second section the following night because I am old and fell asleep.)
Things about this article:
1) I did not know about the heinous interview LVT gave to GQ about this movie which makes me like it less.
2) I also feel like Justine’s (Kirsten Dunst) struggle with depression was actually well written. In a very exaggerated/decadent and heightened world (that is ending…) the depiction of depression is familiar, small in ways and honest. I also thought Kiki Dunst acted the shit out of this role.
3) Lindsay Zoladz the author of this post is a good writer. There I said it. This the first time I have read anything she has written and I found more by her on http://www.canonballblog.com/ and just spent the last hour sucked into it, its fun to read and brilliant. I will be visiting often now.
